GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas –
Galveston Island, one of the nation’s top locations for birding, will host the 11th annual FeatherFest Birding & Nature Photography Festival April 11 – 14, 2013. FeatherFest is one of the largest birding festivals in Texas, and the only one with a dedicated nature photography track. More than 100 unique outdoor adventures amid 200 species of birds await nature enthusiasts of all skill levels. There’s no better time to visit world-renowned birding hot spots Bolivar Flats and High Island than during spring migration. Expert-guided excursions by bus, boat and kayak travel to a variety of habitats, from beaches to bays, bay marshes to wetlands, and coastal prairies to upland wood motts. By popular demand, the festival’s dynamic track of photography field trips and workshops has doubled its programs for 2012. FeatherFest is a project of the Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, which supports eco-tourism and education, and promotes the value of area natural habitats.
